A Big Fat Mess

Ok, this was my problem. My problem was that Trillian opened all the links %26 email buttons on Internet Explorer and I wanted it to open on Firefox. So I went to another forum to see how I can fix this problem. I came across this that was posted 3 years ago.

In the screeny you will see the entries that I edited in the registry. Don't edit these unless you are good with the registry. If I have to I can make a reg file for people to import. Anyway, the keys are My ComputerHKEY_****S_ROOThttp and I had to edit My ComputerHKEY_****S_ROOThttps

on both the https and http the key you are looking to edit is ComputerHKEY_****S_ROOThttpshell

When you click shell key you see a string that says default, in my string data there was an entry for opennew. I had to remove that and leave it blank. This is the default. Same with https

Next you want to expand shell key to see command key in that default string you need something like this in the data section ''C:Program FilesOpera75Opera.exe'' or in the case of Firefox ''C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe''

Same on the command of https if needed. I would bet most default to IE, like mine before I edited it.

Also in the ddeexec key there is another key called Application and you want to change the string to Opera or Firefox.

I will point out one thing that happend to me in the shell section, my default string data was opennew if this entry is in there REMOVE it. This is not the correct entry and will stop Trillian and other apps from lanching URL's

If you are done with editing you can test right away no reboot needed. Go to Trillians chat widow and click on a link.

Well, I did everything up to the OPENNEW part because I couldnt find the key that said Opennew. So i tried clicking links and NOTHING OPENED. Not even Internet Explorer. So I thought it was OBVIOUSLy because of Opennew but I couldnt FIND IT so I saw this folder that wasnt mentioned in the post and I just deleted it. That didnt solve my problem. I know it wasnt a good idea deleting that folder but it might be nothing important.

Now, im just tired %26 pissed off at the whole situation. Please, help me....
