Intel future proofing?

Has intel said anything regarding whether their next gen proccesors (the rival of the AMD phenoms) will work on current intel motherboards?Intel future proofing?
im pretty sure they work on socket 775 motherboards, at least I hope cus thats what im about to buy :)Intel future proofing?
After Penryn, the next gen processors will incorporate the memory controller into the CPU (like AMD) which will require a new motherboard/chipset design.
The Penryn CPUs are set to be socket compatible with 775, but they run at 1333mhz FSB. You need a motherboard which will run at that speed or you can update your BIOS to run at that speed (there are a pretty large number of these). DDR3 boards are obviously preferable here, and afaik any DDR3 mainboard out atm will meet the minimum power requirements (I don't know what these are). The first ranges will be on socket 775 but it's likely we'll see a new socket early 2008. The 1600Mhz FSB CPUs will be introduced at some stage, obviously no motherboard supports that at the mo.
Penryn requires voltage delivery modifications. As such, it's a guarantee that all motherboards which have a 3x series chipset will be compatible with Penryn (Intel made it a requirement).Meanwhile, EVGA says that its 680i SLi mobo will support Penryn, but I have my doubts until I see it up and running on the board. Not even Intel's 975X flagship motherboard, 975XBX2, had the voltage revisions to run Penryn.
