im going to bid on one on ebay... is the agp ati 9600 ''4x compatible?'' ATI 9600 (plz answer quick)
yesATI 9600 (plz answer quick)
and also, its ati radeon 9600SE, is there anything wrong with SE? is it better or worse
Don't waste your money..
this card is for an old system, please dont post if your going to state facts without getting the full picture... gosh...... jk, lol
and also, its ati radeon 9600SE, is there anything wrong with SE? is it better or worse
It's far worse. SE=Sucky Edition. It has much lower clock speeds and only a 64-bit memory interface. It's a severely crippled GPU compared to the 9600 Pro (or even the plain 9600).
will it make a diff in fps? and is it okay for 20 - 30 canadian bucks? its going into an old system (1.0GHz) will it run farcry on low settings?
Hey! I bought one of those like 3 or 4 yrs ago for $200. lasted me until a month ago.
Don't buy. Cant run too much now except WoW at lowest settings and WC3 maxed.
Oh thnx Borat, I had a NORMAL 9600

How much is it on ebay? if its more than $40 id spend that money on something else. (like booze or something)
the card is under 30 bucks (CANADIAN). so should I get it, and will it run farcry on low settings? will the 64bit processor or whatever take away fps?
will it make a diff in fps? and is it okay for 20 - 30 canadian bucks? its going into an old system (1.0GHz) will it run farcry on low settings?
A huge difference. A few years ago, I had a 9600 Pro video card (much faster than the SE) with a 1.8GHz P4 system, and I recall having to run far cry on medium settings. Because both your processor and video card are far slower, I think even low settings would be stretching it. For $30 you should be able to get something better. 6 months ago, I snagged a 9700 Pro (5-6x faster than a 9600 SE) for $35 on eBay. It's now running in my 1.13 GHz file server. lol
thanks borat... lol imma not waiting till 1:30 in the morning to bid on it then, you just saved me a good nights rest, lol thanks dude
I'll have to poke around and look for the forum rules, but everywhere else, you can be penalized if you do this sort of thing often (multiple message threads about the same thing). The other thread is the 9600 SE versus 9250 stuff. I have seen a dozen 9200s and 9250s go for the opening bid amount of $99 more than once on eBay, which tells you the real wholesale value of those. But FYI, I have just mostly reassembled from old spare and surplus parts, a 500 MHz K6-2 box for DOS and Windows98, to play Tie Fighter on. I had a TNT2 Riva B-32 that still works, and that was fine in the breadboard setup (Dx8 only, I think), 64-bit memory, 32 MBs of VRAM, and slow by today's standards. I just didn't want to have to learn every little thing about DosBox plus MoSlow, or some such combination.
if so, mods will catch it, lol
