Where I live in the country I cant even get Caller ID with Verizon they say the phone lines are too bad here, it's almost $40 a month for a basic land line. Now I have Cable Internet. So I was thiking maybe getting Vontage for $25 a month and that even includes long distance. Has anyone tryed it, what's the sound quality like?? also can I just use a regular wireless router with the phone adapter, I want to be able to use my regular cordless. Or do I need to get a special router? I heard the one for Vontage is really buggy,, ,please help!Thinking about getting Vontage need some advice please!!!
To get Vonage, they send you a cable modem to replace the one you have. That modem then has two phone jacks for you to plug phones into. I was just at my cousin's house earlier today and he said he got Vonage, he said the dial-tone has been stronger than when he was using the local phone company's line and hasn't had any problems with call quality or downtime. The only time you have downtime is when your internet is down. The goods are it's cheap, you get long distance, you get caller ID, voice mail, call waiting, call forwarding and ton of other stuff, you can even set your area code to whatever you want (Useful if you want to save your family money when they call you long distance and don't get free long distance.)
If the phone line cabling is bad around your area, I would give it a shot, chances are if your cable company has a better quality network than the phone company you'll have no problems.Thinking about getting Vontage need some advice please!!!

I use cox there the best for only 20$ a month and the cable is only 30$ a month too and the HD TV channel package I have is only 60$ a month. You should see if Cox has a station or w/e where you live.
